Who or what influenced you to apply to Syracuse University?(Maximum: 250 words)

Since the start of high school, I have always wanted to pursue one specific field for my career: Sports Analytics, the science of statistically analyzing and improving the performance of sport teams. Unfortunately, none of the universities in the country had majors that catered towards my specific interests so I thought that I would have to settle for a major I would highly dislike. Then one morning my counselor told me that Syracuse University, located in upstate New York, had recently begun offering a major that perfectly aligned with what I wanted to study. After thorough research I learned that Syracuse was not only the only school in the country that taught Sports Analytics, but was also a leader in the sports industry. I had an online meeting with [name of  professor], head of the sports analytics department, where he explained everything I would be learning and all the opportunities I would receive from attending the school. He had developed the program in such a way that it utilized math, business, programming, and communications courses to give me a complete education for becoming a sports analyst. Upon further research I loved everything Syracuse had to offer from cheering on the Oranges inside the Dome to having a good time at Mayfest. I recognized the clear balance between a great social atmosphere and rigorous academics that many schools can’t put forth. Syracuse changed from being a school I had never heard of to becoming my dream school.

Who is the person you dream of becoming and how do you believe Syracuse University can help you achieve this? (Maximum: 250 words)

Suos Cultores Scientia Coronat, perfectly represents what I intend to do with the boundless opportunities that Syracuse can offer to transform me into the person that I dream of becoming. I dream of one day becoming a pillar in the analytics division of the world of sports. Syracuse being the first and only university to offer courses related to the world of sports statistics, attending Syracuse will mean that I will have access to top quality resources and have highly respected faculty teaching my classes allowing me to have the chance to thrive in an environment dedicated to my success. I will get to work closely with professionals from the industry receiving real world experiences that will help me succeed in my major and also prepare me for the real world. I come from a diverse background growing up in Silicon Valley, the definitive melting pot of cultures,  so I want to be able bring those values to Syracuse and experience what students from around the world bring to the table. Syracuse will institute my development of becoming  the person I dream of through the unique principles of the university and believe that it will make me into the best man I can be.
