This past summer I was a Product Management, Development, and Marketing intern for [name], a Silicon Valley startup. Like the CEO, Mr. [name], I wore many different hats throughout the summer, and loved every moment of designing, marketing and developing a version of the company’s app targeted for high schoolers.

I built wireframes for app design, mapped out user experience features, and proposed new ways to market to the target audience, high schoolers, all the while being groomed to think and act like an entrepreneur. Then, during company meetings I relayed all of the information and work I’d done to a team that I advised alongside Mr. [name]. When I completed the internship I realized I’d fallen in love with the entire process of running a company, and it was evident from the quality of my work.

This love, combined with my vast knowledge of leadership from my four years of participating in Student Government, especially my two years of presidency, where I used my intuition and creativity to find a proper response for every problem, inspires me to pursue studies in entrepreneurship and management.

There are thousands of universities and colleges. Please share with us why you are interested in attending Chapman. (200 words or fewer)

The Argyros School of Business is one of the most elite undergraduate business programs in the country. Finding such a rare gem of a school located in the heart of Orange County, twenty minutes away from the beautiful Southern California beaches, with top notch academics, excites me.

Chapman’s school of business is distinct in the fact that it offers a major in Business Administration combined with a minor in Entrepreneurship. As a businessman’s son, born and bred with talks about venture capitalists and angel investors, it is my dream to run a company of my own, and an education at Chapman would prepare me for this goal.

However, my father has done more than inspire a passion for business that’s driven me to Chapman. He’s instilled respect, responsibility, ingenuity, and creativity in me, all of which are highly regarded by the Chapman community, and he constantly reminds me to prioritize my values before my intellect, because that is the difference between a leader and a follower. Chapman is a school that will stand by me in my dreams and support my values, and for these  reasons I want to attend Chapman.

The ‘I Am Chapman’ campaign on our campus was created to foster an appreciation and awareness of diversity, inclusion, equity and social justice for all. We celebrate our students’ individuality in all of its forms including their personal experiences, culture, religious beliefs, opinions, ancestry, race, ethnicity, interests, ability, geographic backgrounds and family traditions. Given the diverse experiences and perspectives of our community members, the admission committee would like to know what makes you ‘Chapman?' (200 words or fewer)

My story is different. Although I was born in India, my parents raised me in America, in Asian neighborhoods in a home full of Indian customs. While our values and traditions are deeply Indian, we go through our days with our own adaption of an Indo-American lifestyle.

I experience three different worlds everyday, driving from my Indian household through an Asian neighborhood to my primarily Caucasian Catholic high school, and each one enriches me as a person. I am able to understand different walks of life because I’ve experienced a part of all of them; therefore I can empathize accurately, lead accordingly, participate in class properly, and socialize normally, all because I can associate with all of my peers differently.

The diversity I bring is informed by unique circumstances of my upbringing. I possess a take on life that not many others have; I’ve experienced many different cultures and with unique values and customs. What makes me ‘Chapman’ is that I’ve mixed my experiences into my own unique spice blend, leading my life informed by a combination of my experiences and adapting constantly. I look forward to continuing to grow as a person at Chapman.
