How will opportunities at Purdue support your interests, both in and out of the classroom? (Respond in 100 words or fewer.)

As a child I delighted in graphing equations,  Mathematics has always been a fascinating subject for me.  Purdue’s mathematics department, with its smaller class sizes, will enable me to connect my interest in the subject with other students who will share my passion for math.  Outside the classroom, I hope to be able to join various organizations and clubs at Purdue, such as the Math club;  this will help me further and develop both my understanding and my interest in this field and pursue my goals of working in a mathematically dominated field such as accounting or data science.

Briefly discuss your reasons for pursuing the major you have selected. (100 words)

Solving equations, and then plotting  points on the graph itself, were some of my favorite learning moments as a child.  In high school during my Junior and Senior Years, I studied Calculus and delighted in learning to calculate the area underneath a curve and  calculating the rate of change of a moving object.  I wish to further develop my knowledge of math and deepen my conceptual understanding and logical analytical skills.   This discipline will develop my problem solving abilities applicable in other fields such as business or science.
