Describe how you plan to pursue your academic interests at USC. Please feel free to address your first- and second-choice major selections.

In my high school psychology class, I took tests to determine whether I was“left-brained”, logic-oriented, or “right-brained”, creative and artistic. Surprisingly, I received mixed results, with some concluding that I leaned more left and others more right.

On one hand, I have been interested in management since freshman year. As a branch director for the Shooting Stars Foundation, I’ve learned how to network effectively, market services, and fundraise. On the other hand, I attended a program at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) last summer that allowed me to take a class in Electronic Design and Visualization, where I learned the basics of user interface and product design and developed a love for combining functionality and aesthetics.

At USC, I intend to pursue this passion by studying Business Administration and design, a field I’ve been obsessed with since SCAD. USC is unique because students in the Marshall School of Business are afforded 32 electives. This flexibility would allow me to seamlessly integrate the Roski School of Art & Design’s Communications Design minor into my business major, giving me the opportunity to draw upon skills that I developed at SCAD while providing me with the chance to take innovative classes like Management of New Enterprises. I am especially excited to take Professor Blumenthal’s Strategic Management course to learn about the intricacies of decision-making and its effects in the corporate world. By doing so, I can meld my love for functionality and aesthetic together, my “left” and “right brain”.
