Having participated in extracurricular activities at SCU, the campus’s beauty was known to me. However, what appealed to me most during my campus visit was the university's commitment to research and innovation. I am a fervent scientific research enthusiast and have participated in science fair competitions since 6th grade. Thus, I asked my guide about scientific innovations in the engineering department, and she described thrilling projects that ranged in topics from microfluidics to computer science. This was further reaffirmed by my own research about the department.
I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the SCU dorms were, not only because of the buildings themselves, but also because of the other amenities available to students. SCU’s medium sized student population of 5385 students and a small 18:1 student to faculty ratio make the university more appealing to me since it encourages dialogue between students and faculty which I strongly care about.
