Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences.
This past summer, I applied to a dozen software companies for an internship, receiving 2 job offers, both of them paid. I ended up choosing H2O.ai mostly due to my vested interest in machine learning from reading articles from TechCrunch, Quora, Y Combinator’s Hacker News, etc. During my internship, I enjoyed interacting with fellow employees and having thought-provoking discussions about the latest technology trends. By developing data visualization software for machine learning algorithms using D3 and building a forest of JSON data that outputs predictions via an API, I pushed myself to the limits and learned the intricacies of computer science and software development. I was constantly kept on my feet to be aware of new groundbreaking research. As a technology enthusiast, I was excited to contribute to the work behind the scenes. Currently having my work integrated into the company’s main code base, I hope to return to H2O.ai or another similar company next semester.
