My first exposure to NYU came when I received several college letters; through these letters I learned of all the opportunities offered at NYU. I chose to apply to NYU not only because of its academics but also because of its global network of campuses. I would like to participate in the summer abroad program to visit Tel Aviv to make connections and gain exposure. What makes the programs at NYU stand out is the range of global locations and the ease of moving between sites. The ease of transition will be important because I will be spending a large portion of my time in New York.

I chose the New York campus because NYC continues to receive major investments in the biotechnology industry. Biology is a shared interest in my family; my career interests developed as I listened to my father describe his research in genetics. I became fascinated with the function of genes and their effects on genetic disorders. I am sure that by attending the New York campus, I will be well positioned in obtaining practical experience and having an edge in pursuing a career in the biology industry.

The College of Arts and Sciences also provides a wonderful environment for students interested in biology such as myself. In this college I will have the opportunity to do meaningful research. Research is important to any student who wants to pursue a career in science. The Dean’s Undergraduate Research fund caught my attention because it demonstrates NYU’s commitment to providing its students the chance to work in the field. Furthermore, honors courses will challenge me and force me to become a better student. Writing a such a rigorous paper will prepare me for scientific writing in my career.

I cannot wait to experience all NYU has to offer.
