Why are you interested in attending the University of Notre Dame?

During my visit to Notre Dame last spring and through subsequent research on college choices, it became very clear to me that Notre Dame sets itself apart from other most academically rigorous colleges. Norte Dame emphasizes a deep respect for faith and service in addition to its superb academic opportunities. Notre Dame provides unique opportunities for me to achieve my academic and life goals: to pursue the highest possible intellectual development, to continue to work on my passion of serving the community, and to further develop my personal growth in faith. I believe that Notre Dame will guide me with its extensive resources and network of experts, both spiritually and academically. Notre Dame has an ideal setting for my undergraduate study because it allows me to explore a wide range of academic opportunities while engaging in community service and developing a deeper understanding of my faith.

I always thought of myself as a “math and science kid” through my days in secular elementary and middle school. However, as I expanded my knowledge of spirituality at Sacred Heart Prep, my academic interest broadened significantly to include humanities. In fact, one of my favorite subjects for the past three years has been Religion, in which the dynamic and knowledgeable teachers have engaged me in thought-provoking discussions. At Notre Dame, I am interested in majoring in Computer Science while I pursue humanities courses such as Philosophy, Theology, and Music as a minor. These humanities courses will provide important connection to Science courses for me to better understand the value of Science, and how it should help society. Overall, Notre Dame education is the best and most natural continuation of my life long learning because of its academic rigor and faith based educational mission.
